For a long time, I enjoyed watching Law & Order but these days Im rather tired of courtroom dramas. Three in particular: Saddam, Skilling & Lay, and Moussaoui.
Saddam hasnt been in the news this week but his courtroom shenanigans are tiresome at best. How long will it go on? Milosevich was in court for years before dying (before an actual verdict no less). They say Saddam's trial wont go on that long but the whole thing is a mess. Can you really defeat your old dictator in court? Questionable.
Even worse is the lynchmob after Moussaoi. Get a noose, get a shotgun, get a guillotine! This is not a trial about justice so much as a revenge drama for public consumption. The killers on 9/11 died on 9/11 - this guy is a just a nut.
If there ever was an insanity plea, he is it. He confessed to a crime he didnt commit (even Al Qaeda thought he was too crazy to be trustworthy), he defended himself by saying how happy he was people died on 9/11, and he fought his defense attorneys more than the prosecution.
Giving him the death penalty may satisfy the bloodthirsty mob but it is not American justice. But they say pick your battles. If he wants to die so much, just get it over with and be done with it.
Lastly we have good old Enron. How many years has it been? If anyone should get some jail time, it is these two old friends of George Bush. But im not holding my breath.
