Once upon a time there was an awesome game company that wrote games for the PowerMac. That company was called Bungie.
Their first series of games was a first-person shooter called Marathon. Then they did two awesome RTS games called Myth (a game that remains notable for offering RTS action without resource gathering or city building BS.). In total, they did two games of each genre and I loved them. LOVED THEM!
Now Bungie is a part of Microsoft and credited for creating one fo the most popular (and profitable) game series in history, ie Halo.
Today Microsoft released a gigantic press announcement (gigantic in terms of the number of things announced) which included an announcement that they will offer an RTS based on the Halo Universe to which I say...
It's a about @#$# time!
I've been really puzzled why Microsoft hasnt exploited their Halo IP with more games in the Halo Universe. Halo 3 is fine but how about an online RPG? How about an RTS, like Myth? Im not advocating a string of mediocre/crappy games like Sony did with Everquest but at least something... Dont let that IP sit on a shelf!
Halo Wars and exclusive deals blitz X06

gamesindustry.bizGTA 4, PGR4, Halo Wars and a collaboration with Peter Jackson all due for Xbox 360
Microsoft has unveiled a whole host of software for the Xbox 360 and Windows at X06, including exclusive deals on some of gaming's most lucrative franchises and new IP.
Leading the assault was Halo Wars, an all-new real-time strategy game based on the Halo franchise and designed exclusively for Xbox 360 by Ensemble Studios, creators of Age of Empires - which goes some way to explaining why Microsoft was so keen to shutdown the fan-made Halo RTS, we suppose.
